Park Tool's CC-2 Chain Checker is straight forward to use and provides an easy to read indication of the wear (or "stretch") of nearly any bicycle chain. While it isn't compatible with some of the latest chain systems from SRAM and lacks some accuracy due to it's moving parts, we still love the CC-2 for it's ease of use. Nearly anyone can pick up a CC-2 and figure out immediately how it works, thanks to it's indicator window which makes it really easy to determine the tool's reading.
If you're purchasing a chain checker for the first time, we highly recommend the CC-2.
Directions for use:
Simply insert the Chain Checker’s pins into two links, lightly press the swing arm gauge, and then check the gauge window for a precise reading. The CC-2 is compatible with most single-speed and derailleur chains*, including Shimano XTR and SRAM Eagle 12-speed chains.
*The CC-2- is NOT compatible with SRAM 12-Speed Flattop and T-Type systems, please check out Park's CC-4 or Pedro's Chain Checker Plus II if you have one of these systems.
