Effetto Mariposa CarboCut Carbon Hack Saw Blade

Effetto Mariposa's CarboCut Blade is a tungsten carbide grit-edge blade that is compatible with all 10″ hacksaws.

Thanks to the tungsten carbide (WC) grit, the cutting edge is actually comprised of thousands of microscopic cutting edges which function like sandpaper, grinding their way through the carbon, as compared to the ‘ripping’ action of toothed blades, significantly reducing the risk of debonding fibers from the matrix. CarboCut blades also cut both on push and pull strokes, providing more control and less vibrations.

We recommend the CarboCut over Park Tool's CSB-1 due to the CarboCut's height. At 19 mm tall, the blade is more rigid than typical toothed blades and will also support itself better in cutting guides thanks to the larger surface area, leaving you with a straighter and cleaner cut.

It is also important to note that the blade has a thickness of 1.6 mm, which means it is not compatible with all saw guides - our preference is the Pedro's Pro Saw Guide as it features modular sizing shims, which allow you to fine tune the fit, and easily swap between aluminium and carbon cutting with only 1 saw guide. Depending on model, you can potentially use washers to pack out your existing saw guide. Please get in touch if you have any questions.

Once you've cut your tube, we recommend finishing it with a nice chamfer using IceToolz Tube End Chamfering Tool.

While Tungsten grit blades will provide far superior cuts to toothed blades when used on carbon fiber and other composites, it is important to remember that a toothed blade is still the best option for softer materials like wood, plastics and aluminum.
